Birchbox - March 2015

**Long Post Ahead**

Ive always been interested in beauty boxes. If you don’t know what they are, its a monthly subscription box full of sample size beauty products sent to your door to try in the comfort of your own home.
If your anything like me then you love trying new things, its just a shame my bank balance doesn’t like it. This is why beauty boxes are so good, you get to try premium products without the premium price.
After searching for the different types of boxes I settled on Birchbox. At this moment I can’t remember why I choose this particular brand but I’m glad I did as this month I got a few cool things through my letterbox!

I’ll not keep you waiting… here is what was in my March 2015 Birchbox.

Please note that you may not get what I have in my box as they have a number of samples to put in the box each month, you go online and fill out a unique beauty profile, telling them what your skin concern is, what type of products you like etc. Therefore your box is personalised to you so you won’t necessarily get the same box as your best friend! Personally I think thats pretty good, more samples. Yey!

After tearing open my beautiful box (they teamed up with Habitat and the box is all multicoloured, how cute) I was greeted by multiple leaflets explaining the theme of the box and what I have in it. A 20% off discount code for habitats SS15 collection, another discount code off the Birchbox online store (where you can buy the full-size products in your box) and also a little snippet of what to expect in Aprils box. (Laura Mercier, shhhhh!)
I particularly liked the card that explained what I had in my box and how to use it. At the side of it it also had how much the full size product would cost, which I found quite nice as you can decide if you think that product would be worth the money.

In this months box you got to pick which benefit mascara you would like, I have both 'They’re Real' and 'Bad Gal' and I had been waiting for reviews as to weather to get the 'Roller Lash’, so obviously I choose Roller Lash. I’ll be posting a review on this later on in the week so keep your eyes peeled!

Delving a little deeper in the box after the initial excitement of a new mascara (I mean who doesn’t get excited over that! Right?…) I found Philip Kingsley elasticizer. This is a pre-shampoo treatment to restore hair’s suppleness after too many blow-dries. You apply to wet hair leave for 20 minutes and wash as normal. It didn’t smell very much so I felt that detracted from the experience, you get a 20ml sample in the box and that was no where near enough to cover all my hair so I feel the £27.50 full size tub would probably be gone in about 3-4 treatments meaning its would be £7 a go! Personally I think leaving a deep conditioner on a little longer in the bath/shower does exactly the same job.

Next was the Caudalíe vinoperfect serum. The bottle was the same size as the philip kingsley yet was half empty! The serum is meant to reduce dark spots after 56 days of am and pm use (totally not enough to use it for that long so I can’t comment on that part) the texture of the serum is quite runny and being oil free it seemed very thin which on one hand helped it sink into the skin really quick but personally I felt it was too quick and I was left feeling a dire need for moisturiser. It did smell pretty nice, slightly fruity fresh (is that a smell? i don’t know) but at £45 I wouldn’t be rushing to get any soon. As you can see in the photo below, the texture is a little too runny for me. The search for the perfect serum is still on!

Moving on to Whish three wishes lavender body butter, this stuff is amazing! Personally I love the smell of lavender but this isn’t an old lady lavender smell, it has a lovely sweet vanilla lavender scent which makes it a treat to put on. In my box I got a 22ml sample and a full size bottle is £14.50, I would definitely buy the full size one and I’m looking to see what other products they have. It does what it says on the tin, moisturised while smelling lovely. Being paraben, sulphate, DEA, TEA and Petrochemical free it made me that little bit happier knowing that I wasn't putting anything nasty on my skin. The price tag was surprisingly good to say its a naturally sourced product with organic ingredients too!

Next was one of my favourites. Catherine Malandrino Style De Paris eau de parfum. This perfume smells really good, the packaging isn’t attractive at all and if I’m honest I wouldnt have even picked it up in the store as it looks like quite a manly perfume with the black and gold packaging. You know what they say, don’t judge a book by its cover! It has a citrus top note with a fruity twist, the only way I can describe it is a mix between Victoria Secrets secret escapes body spray and Lancôme La Vie Est Belle. This will be on my summer perfume list, find it here

The last 2 bits on my box where a cute little note book to write anything and everything and a couple of sample chapters of A Perfect Heritage by Penny Vincenzi.

Over all I was pretty impressed with this months birch box and at £12.95 you cant complain. I love the idea and I can’t wait for April’s box! Keep a look out as I’ve got another post on the Glamour Spring beauty box coming soon!!

Have you got any Beauty boxes that you’d recommend?
